Master of Science in Counseling Psychology
Mark Felton has a Bachelor of Science degree from the California Maritime Academy in Nautical Industrial Technology. He was an officer in the Merchant Marine for ten years. Mark started his own insurance and financial services agency in 1995, which he has ran for over 20 years. Mark has owned and operated a semi-professional basketball team, the Olympia Reign. Through his expertise in sports, psychology, and business, Mark was able to help several young men live out their dreams of playing professional basketball oversees. Mark found a passion for psychology through coaching athletes for over 20 years. He went on to attain his Masters of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Capella University. Through Tumwater Counseling Services Mark is following his dream of helping individuals achieve their goals and dreams.
I have been married for over thirty years and have one adult daughter and two grandchildren. I was an officer in the US Merchant Marines until 1996, and I have owned and operated a Farmers Insurance and Financial Services Agency for the past twenty-six years. I have been involved in coaching male and female athletes of all ages in baseball, basketball, soccer, and fast pitch. My interest in becoming a therapist grew out of this sports and business background. Assisting others to identify their strengths and weakness, and to empower themselves, has evolved into my next career.
I have a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from Capella University. I work with adults teaching parenting and life coping skills, and with adolescents helping them develop perspectives and skills leading to successful entry into adulthood. I also enjoy helping families and couples with issues that are causing stress and conflict.
I view therapy as a working relationship in which rapport, trust, and cooperation are central. I am eclectic in approach meaning that I fit my treatment plans to the unique needs and situation of each client. I am practical and like to set clear goals and use strategies which have a proven track record of success.
